Have you ever grilled brussels sprouts?
We’ve been a little obsessed with it since we first made it a few years ago. Tony now makes them at least twice a week to pair with chicken sausage, my honey mustard chicken, or salmon. I never get tired of it and I always seem to come back to this simple yet strangely addictive dish. So a few years ago, I got the idea to put it on his blog.
these are grilled brussels sprouts Tender and caramelized, it’s perfect to pair with garlic fingerling potatoes (you can also grill them!). Makes the perfect healthy side dish for summer when you don’t want to turn on the oven.
Ingredients for Easy Grilled Brussels Sprouts
You literally only need 6 simple ingredients to make these foil-packed baked Brussels sprouts.
- Brussels sprouts: Of course, because that’s what we bake!
- yellow onion: For additional veggies and a flavor boost.
- Olive oil: To coat Onions and Brussels sprouts grow well.
- spices: we are just using garlic powder, Salt and pepper in this recipe. Simple but delicious!
How to make brussels sprouts in foil
Grilled brussels sprouts that are easy to make using the foil pack method. It’s a real game changer!
- Prepare sprouts. First, preheat your grill to 400 degrees. Wash the Brussels sprouts and pat dry.
- Please season it. Next, place the brussels sprouts and onion slices in a large bowl and add the olive oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- Make a foil pack. Add the brussels sprouts on a large piece of foil and place another large piece of foil on top. Fold a piece of foil over and seal the edges. Use a fork or knife to poke holes in the top of the foil to allow some steam to escape.
- Grill and eat. Place foil pack over direct heat on preheated grill and grill for about 20-25 minutes. Add salt and pepper if desired and serve immediately.
Double the recipe and make two separate foil packs to serve four.
Why use a foil pack when grilling Brussels sprouts?
- Keeps brussels sprouts from falling off the grill grate (huh)
- Foil packs contain all spices and oils so they don’t spill over the grill
- A sealed foil pack with a hole in the top allows the brussel sprouts to cook evenly throughout without becoming mushy with steam.
Customize your grilled brussels sprouts
I love to keep my Brussels sprouts simple with garlic powder, salt and pepper, but feel free to make your own.
- Add your favorite spices and seasonings, such as chili powder and cayenne pepper for spiciness, balsamic, rosemary and thyme for an herbal flavor, or maple syrup, garlic and cinnamon for a sweet and savory combination. Let’s.
- Add chopped bacon or pancetta for extra flavor.
- Add additional vegetables such as carrots, red onions, bell peppers, and asparagus. Be sure to leave some space between them so that they cook evenly.
How to store grilled Brussels sprouts
If you have leftover Brussels sprouts, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. To reheat, place in the microwave until hot or place on the stove.
