Why These Are The Best Ground Turkey Tacos
We sometimes substitute ground beef for turkey in some of our favorite recipes, but I often find them to be a little flat. Because the health benefits outweigh the slightly inedible results, Ground Turkey Tacos were one recipe that didn’t hit just as well. I decided it was time to change that. The end result made me very, very happy. Not only are these the best ground turkey tacos I have ever eaten, they are the best tacos I have ever made. Then you know there is a winner.
I decided to add beef broth to enhance the flavor and mimic that “beefy” flavor. In addition, boom. The result is his one of the most incredibly flavorful tacos I’ve ever eaten. Here’s a simple and easy weeknight dinner recipe that you’ll refer to over and over again.

Ground Turkey Taco Ingredients:
- ground turkey– I used lean turkey meat for these tacos. You don’t really need the extra fat because it adds moisture. However, you can use any fat content you prefer. Just drain the excess fat. Minced chicken is also very useful!
- garlic– We use the freshest garlic possible! Substitute 1/2 tsp for garlic powder.
- Olive oil– Any neutral oil will work here. Avocado oil is another oil that we use regularly.
- Chili powder– Use your favorite chili powder, as this is a major flavor player in these tacos. The taste varies considerably from brand to brand.
- ground cumin
- onion powder
- dried oregano
- salt
- salsa verde– It doesn’t matter which brand you use, as this recipe only requires 1/2 cup and has so many seasonings. Got a cheap one. You can also use smooth salsa.
- beef broth– Our favorite bouillon is the Better Than Bouillon brand. I always keep it on hand.
- tortilla– We usually serve turkey tacos with a crispy shell, but you can use flour tacos if you prefer.

How to make ground turkey tacos:
- Heat a large frying pan. Add olive oil, ground turkey, garlic, and spices. Cook over medium heat until almost cooked, breaking up finely as you go.
- reduce heat. Add salsa verde, broth, and water. Stir to combine and simmer for another 5 minutes or so to allow the flavors to meld and most of the liquid to be absorbed.
- Serve ground turkey tacos Top your choice of taco shell with lettuce, tomato, avocado, onion and cheese.
