summer home tour
Last week we started our summer home tour with the Summer Dining Room. It’s the first room you see when you walk into your home, and the first place you start decorating each new season.
I’ve incorporated blue and white here, along with a fresh, artificial pop of green. One of my favorite color combinations!
But in our kitchen, we thought we’d try something a little different. Sticking to your favorites is nice, but sometimes a little color change is all you need.
summer kitchen decor
Welcome to Summer Kitchen! Today I thought I’d share some quick styling tips for easy summer kitchen decor. You can still feel fresh.
Start fresh.
I think the change of season will be a good reminder to do a big cleaning job that is always put off. Since you’re moving things around anyway, it’s the perfect time to get into all of the nooks and crannies and surfaces that are normally covered. Start by tidying up all your items so that your shelves, counters, and other surfaces can be thoroughly wiped down. let’s
Choose a piece of inspiration.
I always like to start my seasonal decor with some inspirational piece. A tea towel, artwork, or in my case a tangerine branch.
I found these at Target and loved the little pop of orange. It’s a color I don’t use often, but it’s bright and happy for summer!
Add artwork.
If you’ve been here for a while, you know how much I love making prints! Altering the artwork is one of the easiest ways to add seasonal flair to your home. Whether you’re replacing a piece of wall art or a photo frame, it only takes minutes. To make it even easier, keep the prints behind the picture frame and rotate them when a new holiday or season arrives.
I made a mandarin art print to match the mandarin orange branches I bought. There are 6 free printable designs available. You can download your favorites here.
Organize in trays.
Keeping similar items together in a tray gives you a cleaner look and easier access to items you use regularly. You can use whatever you already have, such as a tray, cake stand, or cutting board. Not only does the tray catch drips and dirt, it also makes it easy to remove bulk items to clean the counters below.
I always like to rotate my seasonal cookbooks and keep some of my favorites on the counter for easy access. To do!
Create a seasonal display.
Kitchen counter space can be the best real estate, but it’s a good idea to carve out at least one area where you can create seasonal vignettes. I use this space on the edge of my kitchen counter. This is because it is the least used counter space and away from where you do your prep work.
In this display, I used a mix of functional pieces and ornaments.
Added mandarin oranges to the display to match the mandarin theme. You can always use fake fruit, but this will remind you to eat your own fruit!
Dress up your sink.
All it takes is minutes to create a cute and functional sink display.
For the sink display, I used a cake stand for dish soap and hand soap.I have a plate and hand soap The scent of mandarin oranges! {This smells so good!}.The little white jar is actually a fruit fly trap and works amazingly! {You can get the recipe here}. !
Assemble the centerpiece.
It doesn’t have to be anything flashy, but I think the centerpiece is just to complete the kitchen. .
White lilies are one of my favorite flowers. I just bought these from Costco and have been using them for almost 2 weeks.
We hope you enjoyed our summer kitchen decor and inspired you to add some summer touches to your home!
Have a nice summer!
