summer dining room
For those of you who don’t know yet, today we’re going to introduce you to our dining room. It was a very wet and cold spring this year, so I didn’t feel like doing any summer decorations. Last weekend I finally got into gear and finished things. All I have to say is that it always feels good to get things done!
The dining room is the first room you enter from the entrance, so you want to coordinate it according to the season. Please come!
simple summer dining room decor tips
It doesn’t take much time or money to add some summer decor to your home. I’ve always found summer to be a more relaxing season, so I try to keep my home decor in line with that. Hopefully they are helpful.
Assemble a simple drink bar.
A drink bar {or any other food bar!} is a fun way to incorporate seasonal decor into any space.
It can be a lemonade bar, a flavored water bar, or whatever. Add fresh seasonal fruit for extra flavor and color.
All of these pieces are shatterproof so you can take them out of your pouch without worrying about breaking anything.
This hooked ladder conveniently stores cups, napkins and other essentials. I didn’t need all the hooks, so I added a metal bin at the bottom for extra storage.
Add color with melamine tableware.
Melamine dinnerware has come a long way over the years! There are so many beautiful and inexpensive designs that are a functional way to add color to your space. Perfect for any meal.
I got these blue and white plates and bowls at Walmart a few years ago and they are still in great condition. Great place to find.
Melamine platters, serving bowls and more are also a great way to get a large piece at an affordable price.
It’s also fun to style to match your summer tablescape.
Exhibition of seasonal works.
Artwork is an easy way to add color and show off your style. You can find lots of free summer printables on the internet, and inexpensive artwork on Etsy and other online sites.
I made this free Summer Picnic Essentials print for my kitchen last year and used it for my sideboard this year. There’s also a pink version if you’re looking for something a little brighter.
I’ve also made this Summer Love printable which fits perfectly in my favorite green and blue color scheme.
I haven’t had a chance to post on my blog yet {but last year!} but will be up later this week. You can download it for free, so please check it out!
Create a centerpiece.
It’s always fun to put together seasonal centerpieces quickly and easily. I try to keep them relatively simple, and I like to have them on some kind of tray so I can easily move them on and off the table as needed.
A few weeks ago I made this DIY tropical orchid planter. I hope it lasts all summer long.Once the orchids have finished blooming, they are easy to replace or add another flower or plant.
