A sigh (of joy and relief). Laundry room complete! ! And we are happy to share our final announcement for 2022.

Last year’s house hunt, the laundry room was the only thing that made this house second guess. We were very spoiled by the upstairs laundry room in our last home, which had two washers and dryers and plenty of cupboard space. But this is what it looked like when I moved in! So moving into a house with a small downstairs laundry room (pictured below) with very little counter space was an adjustment.

We lived with it and had it working for a few months, but ever since we moved we have been looking for a solution! , finally got to us… We had the idea to turn half our playroom into a laundry room! Six months later, this is where we are today!

Chris and I envisioned a vision, created a design plan, and made it happen! Thing could be DIY. Not to mention obtaining permits, inspecting and approving everything. The pros took care of venting the dryer to the outside of the house, installing water pipes, and making sure the floor was structurally capable of supporting the weight of the appliances.

Everything you see here relied on Lowe’s to make all of this possible. Lowe’s is your one stop shop. Especially when renovating a utilitarian space like a laundry room. We have everything from drywall and plumbing to wallpaper and cabinetry.

Let’s take a step back and talk about that checkerboard finish that I never get tired of. Flooring!

checkered tiles

I thought for sure I would put creamy ivory When slate gray tiles Diagonal, call back to home gym and outside pavement. I didn’t expect them to lay as straight as I did. wallpaper.

Choose this wallpaper It was a very easy decision. I knew it would be the moment I saw it. This utilitarian space really benefits from the wallpaper’s organic, traditional forms, yet everything feels really modern and refreshing (which is exactly what you want for your laundry room). method).

Having lots of storage space in this laundry room was important to me. We worked closely with Lowe’s Cabinet Design Consultants to optimize every square inch possible. Lowe’s has custom and semi-custom cabinets in a variety of colors and finishes. There are multiple tiers (based on materials and premium upgrades) and we actually used the most affordable tier for the cabinets. Best of all, the cost of the cabinet includes installation.

We wanted to tie the color tone of our kitchen cabinets to these cabinets, so we went to Lowe’s and physically examined a number of samples. I finally found the most beautiful cabinet in this warm beige color. They remind us that really clean linens really brighten up a room. Craft-made in maple wood ‘Bagley’ profileThe color is “Cottage!”

Plenty of storage space for towels, linens, upstairs cleaning supplies, wrapping paper, and more. It’s a dream come true.

Achieving a dream is everyone’s dream, isn’t it? sink in their laundry room?

sink nook

This little nook was the closet where we kept all our board games.Having a space to spot clothes and such is a dream, and I’m obsessed with the contours of this sink and faucet. Rolling laundry bushel Not only is it cute, it’s functional and practical, and I can’t wait to give it a ‘spin’.

I love statement lighting fixtures. The lighting will bring out the personality of the room, and I think it’s fun to choose something unexpected. “Petals” Chandelier There are multiple bulbs so it’s nice and bright in here. My rule of thumb for lighting is to have at least 3 light sources. Here are the central lights, recessed lighting, candlestickand the small lantern over the sink. (I think we are fine!)

I’m a particular fan of the little black shade of the candelabra – just a wink for drama.

home appliance

We washer dryer set When I moved last year. The appliances downstairs are not energy efficient and it took me nearly 4 hours to wash and dry my stuff (not good!). GE Smart UltraFresh Front Load Steam Washer & Electric Dryer SetThey are energy efficient front loaders and I am a special fan of washing machine vents. Also, the doors in this set are reversible. I decided to put the washer in the middle and the dryer on either end. This will open the doors facing each other.

For us, our dream laundry room is fully equipped with double the machines, so why not make it happen? I carry the laundry upstairs. It’s not a big deal because it’s so much better than what we were doing (carrying all three girls’ laundry downstairs), but who knows what happens with future renovations downstairs I don’t know either.

counter top

As with the cabinets, Lowe’s has a variety of options for the countertops and will even send you an installer. We originally intended to use Dekton countertops, which we fell in love with at Lowe’s. There is also Many shops are affiliated with local stone shops! We went the local route with rock gardens for beautiful soapstone slabs. It’s dark and dramatic, and I love how it extends to the backsplash. The height of the top plate is perfect for folding!

The only thing other than Lowes in this laundry room is a vintage cupboard we sourced. chairishI wanted a vintage piece that would warm this utilitarian space and give it character and charm. I think it works incredibly well.

And of course, this laundry room all ties in beautifully with the bathroom across the hall.

It’s no exaggeration to say that this is my ideal laundry room. This is my DREAM laundry room. Chris can have every dream kitchen – this is my happy place. 🙂
