How to care for your jewelry
There is a saying, “Jewelry enhances your beauty.” And people love beauty, so they love jewelry.
And your jewelry should shine!
But dust and dirt, soaps, lotions, chemicals, sun, air and even moisture can dull/rust your favorite pieces over time and take away their shine.
You can now clean most items on your jewelry list without going to a professional jeweler.
Gentle Care for Fine Jewelry:
All you need is a plate, warm, soft water, a soft-bristle brush, and mild dish soap. Mix a drop of dish soap in a bowl with lukewarm water. For very dirty fine jewelry that does not contain fragile gemstones, soak the jewelry in the mixture for a few minutes. Then use a brush to gently brush off any dirt or residue. Gently remove dirt from hard-to-reach places with a toothpick. Finally, pat your jewelry dry and allow it to air dry completely before using.
How to care for your gold jewelry:
Mix 1 teaspoon of mild soap with warm water. For the best shine, use a spoonful of ammonia. Soak your jewelry in the solution and use a soft brush to remove dust and marks. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry naturally.
Diamond cleaning method:
Use a soft bristle brush and a mixture of warm water and mild soap to gently scrub the diamonds. For shine, use an ammonia-based cleaner.
Gemstone cleaning method:
Clean gently using a soft brush and a mixture of mild detergent and soft lukewarm water.
Note: Always remember that delicate gemstones should not be saturated for more than a few seconds.
How to care for your pearls:
To clean the pearls, gently lay the strands on a soft cloth. Dip a clean, small, soft brush into a mixture of soft, lukewarm water and a little mild shampoo and apply to each pearl. Let it dry.
How to clean rust from jewelry:
Cover the bowl with aluminum foil. Add a teaspoon of baking soda and a little salt to the warm water. Stir until dissolved. Add your jewelry to the solution and let it soak for 2-3 minutes. Remove and gently clean with a clean cloth or soft brush.
How to care for your silver jewelry:
Make a solution with soda and aluminum foil and let your jewelry soak for 30 minutes. Remove from water and wipe clean. Finally air dry.
Proper care for your jewelry:
- Avoid perfumes, lotions and sunscreens
- Do not wear when sweating
- Do not wear when washing
- Use a soft cloth for cleaning
- Avoid collisions, crushing and ignition
- Do not clean with chemicals
