Creamy, delicious and healthy spinach dip

Spinach dip is our family’s favorite appetizer. It’s creamy, flavorful, and has a delicious way to improve almost anything dipped in it. Full disclaimer: our ladle was mostly bread and various produce. I haven’t tested it, but I can say with almost certainty that Oreo cookies don’t improve with spinach dip. However, if you dare to try this combination and find it very tasty, let us know.

We will return to this dip. It was delicious, but not healthy. So I did what I had to do and made some changes. I reduced the cream cheese, eliminated the mayonnaise entirely, and used Greek yogurt instead. It’s then heavily seasoned and mixed with nourishing spinach and crunchy water chestnuts to create this healthy spinach dip. Greek yogurt adds a tangy flavor that I love, and it tastes just as good as the high-calorie original. If you’re looking for holiday appetizers, potluck menus, or weekday vegetable improvement menus, this is the place. Our Healthy Spinach Dip is creamy, tangy, flavorful and delicious. And did I say easy?

Ingredients needed for this healthy spinach dip:

  • Cream cheese– This recipe uses regular full-fat cream cheese.
  • greek yogurt– We like to use whole milk Greek yogurt.
  • spinach– I like to buy fresh spinach and put it in the freezer for smoothies. Perfect for this dip!
  • water chestnut– It has a very mild taste, but adds a delicious crunch.
  • ONION & GARLIC POWDER– Using powdered ingredients here adds a tastier, richer flavor.
  • dried parsley– Can be used raw.
  • sea salt– You can also add ground pepper according to your taste.

  • 8 ounce frozen spinach thawed and drained
  • Four ounce Cream cheese softened
  • 2 cup plain greek yogurt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tea spoon onion powder
  • 1 tea spoon garlic powder

  • 8 ounce can water chestnut drained and diced
  • Place the frozen spinach in a colander. Run warm water until spinach is thawed. Squeeze excess water from the spinach with a paper towel or clean kitchen towel until nearly dry. I like to chop the spinach into small pieces at this point because no one likes to nibble on a few chunks of spinach.

  • Add the softened cream cheese to a medium mixing bowl and beat with a hand mixer until smooth. Add Greek yogurt, salt, onion, garlic powder and dried parsley. Mix until combined.

  • Add chopped spinach and diced water chestnuts and stir until everything is well combined. Transfer to a serving bowl and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or until ready to eat.

  • Serve with crackers, diced bread and your choice of fresh vegetables. fun!
