grilled potato
When the weather in New York gets hot, I use the grill almost every night. Grilling is usually my husband’s job, but I enjoy exploring all that a grill can make for myself. It’s actually not that difficult! These grilled potato slices are like French fries, but healthier. You don’t have to fry it in oil or heat up your kitchen to make it crispy and delicious. You can also grill turkey burgers or hot dogs with onions. Serve with homemade ketchup!! If you prefer a side dish of potatoes that will feed a crowd, try this Red Potato Salad.
How to make easy grilled potato slices:
- potato: Choose firmer potatoes, such as Russet or Idaho potatoes, to taste like French fries.
- Prepare potatoes. Wash potatoes well. It doesn’t need to be peeled, but you can peel it if you prefer. Cut potatoes into rings about 1/4 inch thick. Try to make the slices as even as possible so they cook evenly.i like to use this crinkle cutter Get the ridge.
- seasoning: Place the sliced potatoes in a bowl and add olive oil and your favorite seasonings. This time I finished it simply with salt and black pepper. Try adding herbs such as garlic powder, paprika, rosemary or thyme.
- Preheating the grill: Preheat grill to medium-high heat. If you are using a charcoal grill, wait until the charcoal glows white before placing the potatoes on the grill.
- Grill potatoes: Reduce heat to medium-low and grease grill to prevent sticking. Place the seasoned potato slices directly onto the grill grates. Cover and cook for about 6 to 10 minutes or until nicely golden, then turn over and cook for a few more minutes until tender when pierced with a fork. Flip carefully with tongs to avoid breaking. Remove from the grill and transfer to a plate.
