Christmas decoration ideas for the living room
We are happy to invite you to our home today to share our living room decorating ideas for Christmas. I love decorating for Christmas and enjoy changing the decorations every year. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to decorating for Christmas, but I wanted to share a few. my A favorite way to create a cozy and relaxing holiday living room.
Choose a color scheme.
Color schemes help provide a starting point for holiday decorations. This year I chose green and white. I love the cozy and relaxed atmosphere. We also added metallic tones and champagne ribbons for added warmth.
Add cozy textures.
Layer blankets and pillows in similar colors to create a cozy and relaxing space. Put extra blankets in a basket, hang them on a blanket ladder, or throw them over a chair or sofa.
Our new little kitty, Leo, enjoys the blanket too!
dress up the tree
Decorating the tree has always been one of my favorite things to do. In our house he actually has three trees {one more in the bedroom and one in the dining room, which I’ll show you soon!} and likes to swap out the ornaments every year. I decorate pretty early in the season, so I’ll start with the decorations and add the family decorations as Christmas approaches.
I usually weave a wire ribbon into the tree, but I used this this year. champagne satin ribbon I really like the look of the ribbon drape – especially when the lights are on.
Bring a little charm.
Add sparkle with beautiful items like metallic, mercury glass, and amber glass. I’ve wanted to get some vintage brass bells for years, but I can’t seem to find them. these Products from Amazon are very pretty and affordable.
I have also had these vintage style reindeer stocking hangers for years and they are one of my favorite Christmas pieces.
Adding ornaments to bowls and baskets is another easy way to add charm. Add some green sprigs and some lights for an extra pretty touch.
Create a focal point with the mantelpiece.
Create a Christmas treat cart.
Over the past few years, I’ve put together a small Christmas treat/hot chocolate cart. It holds all of our favorite Christmas favorites and is perfect for Christmas movie night. As a bonus, you can roll it wherever you need it!
Add a touch of whimsy.
It’s always fun to add quirkiness and nostalgia to your seasonal decor. I have a small collection of Christmas rats that are displayed throughout the house.
I also love this cute little reindeer hanging out with presents under the tree.
Light it up.
Of course, the best part of any Christmas decoration is the lights! I won’t say how long it took to redo the lights on the tree this year, but I think it was worth it in the end! Tie it with a string to create a deep and beautiful shine.
If the camera can capture how pretty it is, it will never look the same as it does in real life.
That concludes our Christmas living room tour. There’s still more Christmas inspiration to come, so be sure to check back next week for the rest of our Christmas Room Tour. Our dining room is still…
