Lili Pillet and her husband have owned this 1200-square-foot home in Los Angeles for two years. Our first home was featured in Apartment Therapy in 2019. As a creative and young homeowner, I am always looking to find different solutions to home decor and home organization. I’ve moved a lot (Paris, London, New York, and now Los Angeles), so any furniture needs to be affordable, practical, and customizable (so I can change colors and configurations to suit my needs). . I’m not really into home decor trends (though I still love mid-century design), and I’m pretty intuitive when it comes to color.
I like the effortless style and simple lines with pops of color everywhere. Colorful, eclectic, cheerful, and welcoming, people say our home reflects my personality. I display my ceramics and art everywhere.

Where is your favorite room and why? It will be difficult to choose! It’s probably the living room. I’m still thinking of a lot of improvement projects!
What was the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last thing I bought for my home was an IKEA dresser that I hacked. I painted it purple/lavender and added the carpenter craftsmanship legs I found on Etsy.
Do you have any advice for building your favorite house? Follow your intuition! Don’t be afraid of colors! Things don’t have to match! Furniture doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
Find furniture that is versatile enough so you don’t have to dispose of it when you need to move to your next home.
Being organized is another great way to keep your home stress-free. And lighting and painting are the best ways to make a boring house look like home.
