After all these years, I still love fish tacos, but these low-carb air fryer fish tacos It would suit me better now! I think this fish taco recipe has just the right ingredients to season and add flavor to the fish. Cooking fish using an air fryer allows you to make them literally in minutes. Only carbs!

How to make air fryer fish tacos:

- Use frozen mahi-mahi that has been thawed in the refrigerator.
- Bring fish to room temperature.
- Stir in fish rub, ground cumin, paprika and garlic powder.

2 cups thinly sliced cabbage

1 cup thinly sliced red cabbage

3 green onions, chopped

1/2 cup mayonnaise

4 T freshly squeezed lime juice (more or less to your liking)

1 teaspoon green tabasco sauce (optional)

1/2 teaspoon vegesal (or a little less regular salt)

6 Mr. Tortillas 2 net carb multigrain tortillas (or other tortillas of your choice)

- Thaw the fish in the refrigerator overnight. When you’re ready to make fish tacos, remove the fish from the freezer and allow it to come to room temperature.
- Drain the fish and pat dry with paper towels if still wet.
- Mix Szeged fish rub, ground cumin, paprika and garlic powder to create a savory rub
- Then rub both sides of the fish first with olive oil and then with the rubbing mixture.
- Whisk together the mayonnaise, fresh lime juice, green tabasco sauce, and veggies to create a spicy dressing. Please check.)
- Slice cabbage and leeks (or measure out 3 cups coleslaw mix instead of cabbage). Next, mix the coleslaw ingredients with about 4 tablespoons of dressing.
- Preheat air fryer to 400F/204C. (If your air fryer has that option, remove the basket when preheating.)
- Line air fryer with basket air fryer parchment paper (Affiliate link) when using. Place the fish on parchment paper or directly in the basket.
- Cook fish fillets for 6 minutes or until firm to the touch (but not tough).
- While the fish is cooking, heat each tortilla in a hot skillet for about 30 to 60 seconds, turning once. (I think Mr. Tortilla 2 Net Carb Multigrain Tortillas are great for tacos. That’s what I used in this recipe. Use your favorite tortilla.)
- Place the cooked fish on a cutting board and use two forks to cut it into strips.
- Fill warm tortillas with shredded fish topped with spicy coleslaw.
- Serve hot with additional dressing added at the table if desired. I like to serve fish tacos with cut limes and squeeze them out on the tacos too!

I used frozen mahi-mahi from Costco for this recipe. Use your favorite mild fish.
I’m a big fan of Szeged Fish Rub, but if you don’t have that brand, use the Fish Rub you have.
This recipe uses Szeged paprika, but feel free to use whatever paprika you have on hand. Use non-spicy paprika.
If you want to make this quick dinner even easier, substitute 3 cups of purchased coleslaw mix for the red and green cabbage.
