by Contributing Author

See, there are many reasons to make soup recipes a regular part of your diet:

  • Help with seasonal meals
  • Rich in vitamins and minerals
  • Can boost the immune system in most cases (see points above)
  • Most are low calorie, low fat and high fiber
  • they are easy and affordable
  • They are warmer than your body. They are perfect for the soul and home

This fall and winter can be especially difficult during cold and flu season, so we’ve put together a list of five soups you should have in your regular rotation for immediate benefits. A perfect combination of international inspiration. Try one or all of them this season.

I know I have to start this with Mediterranean recipes. This one is inspired by an old favorite and serves as a reminder that soup can be enjoyed all year round! Keep it in your pocket.

instant pot green chili chicken tortilla soup

This is one of the most flavorful soups I have ever made. He is also probably one of the most fragrant. Make sure you have enough broth in the pot to cover the chicken. This way it will fall apart cleanly after cooking. Also, by adding canned green chilies at the end, the presence of the recipe is enhanced. All in all it takes about 40 minutes to make this soup, but you can put your feet up and let the Instant Pot do most of that time. For this reason, I like to add Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.

slow cooker italian green chicken soup

This is my take on classic chicken noodle soup. However, I have swapped out the noodles and added more veggies. This recipe is low-carb, yet incredibly hearty and satisfying, and the Italian-inspired flavor profile makes it hard to put down your spoon. . Cold!

icelandic lamb soup

Speaking of cold weather…I learned this recipe during a trip to Iceland. I had a very chilly fishing trip there. Lamb is a soup you don’t see very often here in America. This is a slow cooker recipe, so it’s perfect for eating early on Sundays and then enjoying six of her hearty servings. To get the most out of this recipe, you’ll want to set it aside after cooking and enjoy it the next day when all the flavors have come together.

Bonus: This recipe involves a lot of chopping.

shrimp meatball soup

I needed to include some seafood on this list so I dug in and found this amazing pho inspired recipe that I promise you’ll love. It’s a classic #FMC recipe that we follow and will teach us something new along the way. Baking the baby bok choy before putting it all together complicates the dish a bit, but what I love about this is the medley of flavors. I promise you won’t miss it if you skip it!
